Ryan Gosling's Bugle This album helped me escape from a maximum security prison as part of an elaborate scheme involving a spoon, two gazelles and Robert Downey Junior. I won't bore you with the details, suffice to say it saved my bacon and no mistake. A+ would listen again, shame Lewis is on it.

jamroom You what I like about music that is tagged experimental? You never know what's round the corner.

There are plenty of surprises here and very enjoyable they are too. Whether it's the Tom Waits on bad acid (Kberg Jr & Snr), the random avant jazz (Waiting Song), the backyard blues (Plum Song), or the dark soundscape that is Brute Hall, it's all to be savoured. The haunting Rich Tea Biscuits closes the album nicely and is my fave.

Looking forward to hearing more from these guys! Favorite track: Rich Tea Biscuits (Epilogue).

Generated in Glasgow from the collective efforts of Lewis Macdonald, double bassist Alastair Quietsch and a host of collaborators, this album takes the template of rough-hewn, experimental art school noise and feeds it through the lucid filters of pop-industrial; couples it with the growling, foreboding storytelling of Tom Waits, and adds a dash of genuinely frightening found sound abuse and musique concrete techniques.
Constantly threatening to collapse into shambolic, abstract dissonance at every turn, it pulls back from the brink with distorted robot voices or visceral bursts of punk energy. A success where so many 'noise' projects fail, these artists have embraced both structure and narrative as the focal points for their transgressive sample-craft. Two highly inventive musicians pushing analogue and digital gear to its limits, but anchoring the results in a bedrock of feral jazz, snarling blues and brutal industrial rhythms.
